Definition
Jₙ(x) is the standard Bessel function of the first kind. It is finite and well-behaved at x = 0.
Behaviour
Oscillates like a damped sine/cosine. Amplitude decreases as x grows. Higher n shifts first zero right.
Applications
Circular drum vibrations, heat conduction in cylinders, EM waveguides, optics, signal processing.
Key property
J₀(0) = 1, Jₙ(0) = 0 for n>0. Infinite zeros distributed along positive x-axis.
